Today there is celebrated an anniversary date of Anzor Erkomaishvili, public figure and Artistic Director of the State Academic Ensemble “Rustavi” of Georgian Folk Song and Dance.

His exceptional endowment to his motherland has been recognized time and again: St. George Golden Order, Shota Rustaveli, Eqvtime Takaishvili, Dimitri Arakishvili, Ilia Chavchavadze, Niko Berdzenishvili, Iakob Gogebashvili, Ivane Javakhishvili, Zaqaria Paliashvili, State Prizes of Georgia, Order of Honor. He is an Honorary Professor of the State Conservatory, an Academician of the Georgian Academy of Pedagogic Sciences. This incomplete list of the titles and awards cannot describe and express Mr. Anzor’s contribution to the overly significant job of searching, studying and handing down of the Georgian folk and sacred music to future generations even partially. Today the generations raised by him transfer the treasure of the national music to the young by themselves.

There are tens of TV and radio topics, programs, articles, publications, letters, books, audio and video editions made by Anzor Erkomaishvili, collected notes recorded from outstanding singers and decoded through old audio recordings (over 500 songs) found in homeland as well as in different archives and libraries of the world.

The Ensemble “Rustavi” founded by him has introduced the national culture to about 80 countries, held more than 5 000 concerts, recorded more than 800 songs. The artistic director Anzor Erkomaishvili is making arrangements for the jubilee date of the Ensemble and with the present group prepares a new book named “Ensemble “Rustavi”, 400 Georgian Folk Songs” for publication.

We wish the devoted Georgian, an outstanding person for his job and merit in the society, healthy and long life and further everyday busy creative activities for his country.
