‘During the debut of New York which took place on Broadway on Thursday evening, it became clear that ‘Rustavi’ has its distinctive image. It pays as much attention to the songs as to the dances. As it was expected, the Georgian men are strong and brave, the women are beautiful, tender and lyric. ‘Rustavi’s swordsmen fight with each other… During the fencing you will hear loud exclamations. Daggers are driven into the surface of the stage which makes sparkles in the air. This new, sensation ensemble from Georgia presents more colorful program than simple pseudo technique.

‘Rustavi’ has men’s brilliant choir, which occupies a very important place in the concert program. Sometimes songs and dances are linked very closely.

If you have never heard the stunning polyphonic sound of Georgian choirs, the 10 member chorus here offers remarkable range.

The individual parts of the call and response in the antiphonal songs as well as the intricate counterpoints are heard as clearly as if they were sung in the mountain air.

‘Rustavi’’s program is brilliant and colorful. It consists of the songs and dances from different parts of Georgia. Imereti – the homeland of George Balanchini – is presented by the work song.

The Ensemble ‘Rustavi’’s singers, dancers, instrumentalists’ talent and mastership deserves inspiration…’
