Leiden. ‘The First Lady of Georgia Sandra Saakashvili – Roelofs opened the first festival ‘Iberia’ at these weekends. On Saturday evening she gave a welcoming speech in front of the gathered audience in the hall, which was looking forward to the beginning of the performance of the Ensemble ‘Rustavi’ of songs and dances.

‘…The dancers deserved heavy applause from the inspired audience during their performance which was as quick as lightning. The reason is clear: the ensemble dances phenomenally. The four musicians, that play the drums and accordions, may have the hope of permanent applause as well as the singers that perform polyphonic Georgian songs without accompaniment.

After the concert there was a ceremonial reception at the theatre. So was finished the first day of the festival.’
