Ensemble ‘Rustavi’ Administration Press Release, July 10th, 2012
Ensemble ‘Rustavi’s artistic director, an outstanding choirmaster, ethnomusicologist, professor Anzor Erkomaishvili delivered a speech in front of the World Congress of Musicologists concerning to the questions of Georgian polyphonic music. The prestigious congress that is held once during five years at Rome’s Music Auditorium, under the guidance of the National Academy of Music of St Cecilia, was open for about 1000 delegates from 80 countries.
In his long speech, at the representative auditorium, Anzor Erkomaishvili revealed identity of Georgian spiritual and folk music, a unique style of thinking and exceptional role of Georgian music in the world’s music art. The speech was imbued with live illustrations of the Ensemble ‘Rustavi’.
The speaker’s verified factual material deserved sincere approval of the musicologists and further strengthened their enthusiastic attitude to Georgian polyphonic thinking.
